The Taqeef business (then known as Electronic Appliances Company) is established in Abu Dhabi as a domestic appliance retailer.
Taqeef works closely with founding partners Fujitsu General to develop the world’s first desert specified AC unit. Its launch in the Middle East revolutionises the AC industry in the Region, and puts Taqeef on the map as the authority on cooling.
Taqeef opens its second branch in Al Ain.
Taqeef opens its Dubai branch.
Taqeef becomes the largest distributor of window ACs in the region. The market remains relatively small, and Taqeef continues to offer other domestic appliances.

Taqeef completes the largest VRF project in the world – The Jebel Hafeet 5,000 Villa Project in Al Ain.
Taqeef becomes the first AC supplier in the region to create a dedicated Energy Solutions Division. Specialising in energy studies, retrofitting, labelling and district cooling the Taqeef green team deliver cost and energy savings.
Taqeef completes its first retrofit project to replace chillers with a VRF solution. The system upgrade generates annual savings of 66% (independently audited and accredited by EMS).
Taqeef installs a centrifugal chiller plant (comprising five 2,000 tonne Midea units) in Dalma Mall, Abu Dhabi. It features the world’s most efficient chiller, and is the first and the largest Chinese brand centrifugal plant outside Asia.
Taqeef undergoes a corporate re-brand; bringing all businesses under the Taqeef name and rationalising its corporate image.
Taqeef is the first AC supplier in the region to have all products certified by ESMA and QCC.
