At Taqeef, we’re committed to driving the environmental agenda in the region through innovation and investment.
We’re leading the industry with our new environmental programmes and partnerships which develop greener, cleaner cooling solutions. We’re driving professional development with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Energy Services Company (ESCO) accreditation. We’re also surpassing industry standards with our new eco products. And, we’re the first to have our entire product range endorsed by Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) and Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC).
We’re even going beyond our legislative duties, working with organisations such as Eurovent and Emirates Green Building Council, to find solutions to the industry’s biggest environmental challenges. And, through strategic investment in three key areas – appliance standards and labelling, building retrofit, and district cooling – we’re making real the vision of The Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES2030).
We only partner with brands and suppliers who are, like us, committed to greener growth. Partners whose eco-friendly philosophy is evident in all aspects of their business. From robotic and automated production processes to technology using solar power, ATW heat pumps and DC invertor control. We are united by our collective belief that the best new product development should produce better cooling that’s better for the environment too. So, you’ll find smart technology featuring heat recovery and economy operating modes, plus VRF intelligent management systems as standard on our new product lines.
We’ve worked with ESMA and QCC to help develop industry standards for labelling across the air conditioning appliance sector in the region. Our aim is to empower consumers to make informed choices and to understand the environmental impact of the products they purchase. All Taqeef products meet the new labelling standards with energy consumption levels and environmental ‘star’ ratings visibly displayed. Our entire range is also compliant with the region’s new building regulations. And, while the majority of our units are already 5 star rated, we continue to aim high with a drive to achieve the region’s first full 5 star energy rated product portfolio.
District cooling can offer significant energy savings for large-scale high density developments such as business districts, airports, military bases, university campuses, residential towers and commercial establishments. It also offers significant reductions in carbon emissions.
We believe district cooling deserves our most sophisticated technology. So, we’ve sourced the world’s most efficient centrifugal chiller, specifically designed for district cooling use, and brought it to the Middle East.
Retrofitting old energy inefficient buildings with a new generation of cooling technology offers huge savings. Savings of over 50% in energy consumption, electricity bills and emissions. And, as air conditioning systems in the region contribute to up to 70% of the total energy usage and operation costs of a building, the impact of responsible retrofitting is enormous. It’s good news for our clients’ carbon footprint and their costs too.

Taqeef retrofitted the building with a Variant Refrigerant Flow system. Three air cooled chillers and plant were replaced with a VRF system to cater for the individual apartments and common areas. Through careful design and planning, Taqeef were able to complete the new system upgrade while the old chiller system was still operational.
